🎃🕷️ This Mr. Chillingsworth quilt has become one of my favorite seasonal quilts, not just because of the playful Halloween design, but because it's packed with so many good memories. I pieced this quilt myself using the free Mr. Chillingsworth pattern, and every time it comes out in September, it makes me smile.

The fabrics are especially meaningful because they were purchased during a quilting trip to Minneapolis with my aunt and cousin. In classic "this only happens to us" fashion, the lights went out while we were shopping at a quilt store housed in a huge warehouse. Rather than call it a day, we grabbed our cell phones and continued browsing fabric by flashlight! It made for a memorable adventure and now every time I see these fabrics, I'm reminded of that wonderfully ridiculous shopping trip.

For quilting, I chose the whimsical Spiderwebs design, which felt like the perfect match for a Halloween quilt. The web motifs add texture and movement while reinforcing the spooky-but-fun theme without overwhelming the piecing. It's one of those designs that feels completely at home on the quilt.

On the back, I used an incredibly soft flannel that takes the snuggle factor to a whole new level. The combination of the quilting and the cozy backing makes this one of the quilts everyone reaches for when temperatures start to drop. Officially, it comes out every September... but if I'm being honest, it often hangs around well after Thanksgiving because it's simply too comfortable to put away once Halloween has passed!

This quilt also marks one of my first experiences using the longarm to attach binding to the quilt front. After years of wrestling larger quilts through the throat space of a domestic sewing machine, being able to use the longarm for that step felt absolutely revolutionary. I was hooked almost immediately and couldn't believe how much easier the process was.

Between the cozy flannel, the playful spiderweb quilting, the Minneapolis fabric-shopping adventure, and discovering a new favorite binding method, this quilt holds far more memories than its stitches alone. It's a seasonal favorite that returns year after year, bringing a little Halloween fun and a lot of comfort along with it. 🎃🖤🕸️
