Welcome to the PAQ Studio
Pewter Acorn Quilts operates from a dedicated longarm quilting studio located within my home. This allows me to provide personalized service and give each project the individual attention it deserves.
While my studio is part of my home, it is in a separate loft workspace set-up specifically for quilting.
Maintaining a clean, organized environment helps me protect both your quilt and the projects of other customers entrusted to my care.
Pets & Allergies
I share my home with a wonderful dog who keeps me company during my long ‘corporate’ workdays.
She is not allowed in the studio, dog hair has the ability to travel, and the occasional stray hair may make its way into the workspace despite my best efforts.
I regularly clean the studio and take care to minimize allergen exposure, and utilize a HEPA filter air purifer in the space, but if you have a severe pet allergy, my studio may not be the right fit for your project. I believe it's important to be upfront so you can make the best decision for your needs.
In honor of her rescue story, one of the ways I give back to the community is by donating handsewn bandanas to our local animal shelter, to help the pets shine in their “Adopt Me” photos. If you’d like to support this cause, you can opt in to donate your leftover scraps to this project.
Smoke-Free Environment
I am a non-smoker, and my studio is a completely smoke-free environment.
Many quilters have sensitivities to smoke, fragrances, mildew, and other lingering odors. Because I work closely with your quilt for extended periods and because multiple customer quilts are handled within the same workspace, maintaining a fresh, clean environment is important to me both personally and professionally.
Studio Access & Safety
At this time, clients are not permitted inside my home-based studio.
My studio is located upstairs and is accessible only by a flight of stairs. In addition, my business insurance does not allow customer access to the studio space.
While I would love to show everyone where the quilting magic happens in person, safety comes first. I would feel terrible if someone were injured navigating the stairs, whether due to mobility challenges or simply being a little clumsy now and then (something I know a thing or two about!).
To make things easy, all consultations, drop-offs, and pick-ups take place by appointment at agreed-upon public locations or other arrangements that are safe, convenient, and accessible.

Odors, Stains & Quilt Acceptance
I understand that many treasured quilts have been stored, inherited, or loved in ways that can result in stains or odors. If you're concerned about a quilt's condition, please reach out before booking your project. I'm happy to discuss whether the project is suitable for quilting.
These policies aren't about being picky or judging. They're about respecting everyone's projects.
Odors, smoke residue, pet dander, and other contaminants can transfer to the canvas leaders and surfaces of my longarm machine during the quilting process. Once transferred, those particles can potentially come into contact with other customer projects.
I am happy to provide a helpful stain and odor - remedy tip sheet for customers who would like suggestions for freshening a quilt before drop-off.
For the health of my family, the protection of my equipment, and the comfort of other customers, I reserve the right to decline projects that arrive with:
Strong smoke odors
Heavy pet odors
Mildew or musty smells
Excessive fragrance or perfume scents
Significant staining / oils
Many people have allergies, asthma, scent sensitivities, or other health concerns. By maintaining reasonable standards for quilts entering my studio, I help create the safest environment possible for all of my customers and their treasured projects.
